Dental Health Month Is Back! – Save 10% In November

Studies continue to show the increasing importance of good oral health to the overall health of our pets. For example, left unchecked, oral bacteria can settle on our pets’ hearts or kidneys. Jaw bone loss is common and may already be present if our pets have advanced dental disease. Thirty percent of dental issues lie below the gum-line, which are only detectable by dental x-rays. These are just a few illustrations of why annual dental cleanings and x-rays are extremely beneficial to keeping our pets healthy (or at any time when symptoms are present).

Some common symptoms of dental disease to be aware of are persistent bad breath, bleeding, inflamed or receding gums, plaque or tarter build-up, loose or missing teeth, sensitivity around the mouth, pawing at the mouth, loss of appetite, or difficulty eating/chewing foods.

We have recently added state-of-the-art dental cleaning and radiology equipment. To celebrate these added tools in enhancing the well-being of our patients, we are having a second Dental Health Month and special pricing at Mission Animal Clinic this year – November, 2018! During November, a 10% discount will be offered on all dental cleanings and anesthesia. (Antibiotics, any pre-anesthetic blood work, x-rays, and any tooth extractions needed will be charged at regular prices.)

Please check with any of our veterinarians or staff members about setting up a dental cleaning for your pet, or call us at (913) 432-3341 to schedule an appointment. To know what to expect during a dental procedure, antibiotics will be prescribed to give for three days at home before the procedure. No food can be given after midnight the night before the procedure, and your pet is brought in between 8:00 and 8:30 am the morning of the procedure. While your pet is under general anesthesia, the teeth are x-rayed and cleaned, as well as checked for overall health. Any extractions deemed necessary would be done at this time, as well. Pets are usually ready to go home between 4:30 and 6:00 pm that same day, and antibiotics are continued at home.

This is a great opportunity to help your pet’s overall health and save 10% during November!
